Kari Ullakko

Kari Ullakko is a tenured professor and Head of the Material Physics Laboratory at LUT University in Lappeenranta, Finland. He is internationally recognized for discovering the magnetic shape memory effect, which has led to the creation of a new field in materials science and engineering. He has led numerous international research projects across Europe and the U.S., securing over €23 million in research funding. Ullakko has also founded two high-tech companies and served on the Council of Natural Sciences and Engineering of the Academy of Finland from 2016 to 2018

Heikki Handroos

Professor of Mechanical Engineering at LUT University, specializing in mechatronics, robotics, and control systems. He has published over 300 scientific papers and supervised more than 30 doctoral theses. He is also an entrepreneur, having co-founded several startups in intelligent machine technologies.
